Hi all, starting Tuesday 1 September I’ll be working with Cycling UK for 10 weeks, helping to deliver their ‘Big Bike Revival’ initiative by providing 30 minute bike health checks at four venues in our area. These are mobile work shops with locations in Ebchester, Swalwell, South Tyneside and Washington.
Basically, I’m fixing broken bikes by providing ‘M-checks‘ and Minor Repairs that may include any of the following:
Brakes, calliper and cable adjustment, cable and pad replacement.
Gears, Indexing, adjustment and cable replacement.
Chain, check for wear, lubricate if required.
Tyres, puncture repair/ tube replacement. inflate to recommended pressure (PSI).
Other, check all nuts and bolts are correctly tightened.
Other. headset and bottom bracket check
Other, check bar plugs and cable end caps, replace if missing.
If your bike requires more extensive work I will be able to direct you to local businesses that are participating in the governments ‘£50 Fix Your Bike Voucher Scheme’.
Further details of the scheme can be found on the Cycling-UK publicity poster, please click the link below.
